What this package is

Watch means somebody is checking your site is still alive, and that a copy exists for the day something goes wrong.

The domain and the hosting are included. Backups run weekly, security updates are applied for the length of the contract, and uptime monitoring alerts me before your customers phone you about it.

One small fix a month is included. It suits a profile site whose content rarely changes, where you simply want it to survive without having to think about it.

Not included in this package

New feature work beyond what the contract lists. Reserved Developer Hours includes four hours a month; past that I quote before I start, never after.
A full redesign. That is a new project, not maintenance.
Outages at a third party, such as a bank or an email provider. I chase them and tell you what I find, but I do not control them.
Code another developer changes during the contract. If someone else touches it, I need to review it before I keep covering it.
A guaranteed response outside your business hours. Monitoring runs around the clock, but I only promise reply times inside working hours.

Every question needs an answer, because these are the settings your system is built from. None of them can be skipped. If one is not settled yet, put down what you know today and we adjust it when work starts.

How the work runs

Tell me what you are running now

Where the site is hosted, who the domain is registered with, which outside services it calls. If you do not know, I trace it and write it down for you.

I check the state of it first, free

What is at risk today, what is out of date, and which package actually fits. If you do not need a retainer, I will tell you that instead of selling you one.

Contract, one year at a time

I pay a full year of domain up front from the first month, so the term is annual. Scope, notice period and ownership are written in English and signed before anything starts.

Then it just runs

Status report every month, you message me during your business hours, and every fix I ship stays covered for 60 days.

Questions about this package

What am I paying for in a month where nothing happens?

The fairest question there is. A month where nothing happens is a month the system worked, which does not happen by itself: it comes from updates applied quietly, backups taken weekly, and monitoring that runs all the time. From Care upward there is a monthly report that turns all of this into figures you can check. There is a sample on the Care package page.

How is one fix a month counted?

By issue, not by message. If one issue takes ten exchanges it is still one. I am not trying to make you afraid to ask. Unused months do not accumulate, because the point is to keep the workload sane, not to hand out credits.

Why does it have to be a yearly contract?

Because I pay a full year of domain costs from the first month. On a monthly contract that ends early, that cost falls on me. The condition is set from the start and written into the agreement rather than mentioned later.

You did not build my site. Can you still look after it?

Yes, after one round of inspection to see whether it can honestly be maintained and how much technical debt is sitting in it. If it turns out it should be rebuilt rather than maintained, I say so. I do not take on care of something I already know will break.

If the contract ends, who owns the data and the domain?

You do, all of it. The domain is in your name from day one, and the data is exported in full along with the source code. Nothing is held hostage.
